ISBAT University warmly welcomed its newest students during the Fall 2026 Freshers’ Orientation Day, held on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, at the university campus in Kampala. The event marked an important beginning for hundreds of students as they embarked on a new journey of academic growth, professional development, innovation, and personal discovery.
The occasion was honoured by the presence of Mr. Don Wanyama, Chief Executive Officer of Vision Group, who attended as the Chief Guest. Students participated both physically and online, reflecting ISBAT University’s commitment to providing accessible and flexible learning opportunities. (New Vision)

Inspiring the Next Generation
Addressing the freshers, Mr. Wanyama shared valuable insights on education, career development, leadership, and the responsibility of young people in contributing positively to society. He encouraged students to view university education not simply as a pathway to acquiring qualifications, but as an opportunity to develop knowledge, character, creativity, and the ability to create meaningful change.
Drawing from his extensive experience in media, communication, leadership, and public service, he highlighted the important role education plays in transforming individuals and communities. He also shared how Vision Group uses its various platforms and development initiatives to promote education, environmental awareness, community empowerment, and national development. (New Vision)
His message resonated strongly with the students as they prepared to begin a new chapter in their academic lives.

Building a Strong Foundation for University Life
Orientation Day provided freshers with an opportunity to become familiar with the academic environment, university policies, student support services, facilities, learning resources, and expectations of university life.
Students were introduced to various aspects of their academic journey and encouraged to actively participate in university activities, research, innovation, leadership programmes, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular engagements.
The programme was designed to ensure that every new student begins university life with confidence, clarity, and a strong understanding of the opportunities available at ISBAT University.

Empowering Lives Through Education
During the programme, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Director of Academic Affairs at ISBAT University, recognised Mr. Wanyama’s contribution as a media and business leader and highlighted Vision Group’s involvement in initiatives supporting education and national development. He noted the strong connection between empowering people through education and ISBAT University’s broader commitment to empowering lives in Uganda and across Africa. (New Vision)
This commitment continues to guide ISBAT University in creating a student-centred, technology-driven and industry-oriented learning environment where learners are prepared for the demands of an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing world.

Connecting Education with the Real World
The presence of a distinguished industry leader such as the Vision Group CEO demonstrated the university’s commitment to connecting students with leaders and professionals beyond the classroom.
Such interactions provide students with valuable exposure to the realities of the professional world while encouraging them to think beyond academic achievement and consider how their knowledge and skills can contribute to society.
Mr. Wanyama also highlighted initiatives including Vision Group’s University Quiz, which provides university students with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, compete with peers and gain national exposure. He congratulated ISBAT University for its participation in the competition. (New Vision)

Students were encouraged to remain curious, disciplined and innovative throughout their studies and to take full advantage of the academic, technological and professional opportunities available to them.
As ISBAT University continues to promote academic excellence, innovation, research, entrepreneurship and career-focused education, the university looks forward to supporting every fresher in transforming their aspirations into achievements.
