Course Objective

This undergraduate degree program in Applied Accounting aims to prepare students for a career as a professional accountant and to equip them to make a wider contribution to their organizations, communities and society. The curriculum is made carefully by industry and academia experts with a view to create professional accountants, and attain further professional accountancy global certifications based on the knowledge and skills already attained. The program also caters credit exemptions for practicing accountants with professional accountancy qualifications, who wish to attain an undergraduate degree.Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting qualification can lead to a variety of accounting careers with varying responsibilities in areas such as Public accounting, Management accounting, Governmental accounting, Auditing and Taxation, and Internal auditing.

Career Scope

This degree can lead to a variety of accounting careers with widely varying responsibilities in all sectors – private, nonprofit and government. They can prosper in: Public accounting, Management accounting, Governmental accounting, and Internal auditing. Accounting is a very crucial part of an organization, for managing payroll, auditing and financial management.

Admissions

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with 5 passes; AND

(ii) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 Principal passes (at least one in science subjects) obtained at the same sitting.

(iii) International students must produce the equivalency certificates from UNEB, equating their foreign qualifications as the equivalent of (i) and (ii) above.(iv) Students of HEC (Business) with a minimum score of class ii credit obtained from an accredited University shall also be considered after assessment of their previous awards. Diploma with a minimum score of Class II Credit in a similar stream shall be considered for credit exemptions after assessment of their previous awards
